Track & Field Programme

The first of many land sports to be launched under our new SLI Sports Academy.

Open to all competitive and recreational athletes seeking group training in a vibrant and energetic setting.

Our Track & Field programme consists of 3 main components:

1. Athletics training conducted at Queenstown Stadium

  • up to 3 times a week
  • run, jump and throw activities

2. Functional fitness workouts in our gym room at SLI Centre

3. Rehabilitation at SLI Centre

  • Aqua training, physio Treatment and injury prevention

Our Track & Field training is:

  • Customised to suit the needs of every athlete depending on their current fitness level, training history, and injury history
  • Open to kids as young as 5 years old all the way to adult elite high-performance athletes
  • Taught in age-group appropriate classes

Athletes Are Put Into Age-Group Appropriate Classes:

 

Stage 1: Fundamental Motor Skills Development

  • For children 4 – 8 years old
  • Focus: honing the basic motor skills for running, jumping and throwing

Stage 2: Kids’ Developmental Athletics

  • For children 9 – 12 years old
  • Broad based, multi-event approach

Stage 3: Youth Athletics

  • For teens 13 – 16 years old
  • Event group training

Stage 4: Specialisation and High Performance

  • Athletes aged 17 onwards

Long Term Athlete’s Development (LTAD)

 

Because of the way our Age Appropriate Classes are structured and tiered, an aspiring young athlete aged 4 and above can potentially train with us for 15 – 20 years and eventually fulfil his/her potential.
